What is your hustle?
Slinging Facebook Likes.
Who are the people you interact with the most?
My girlfriend, and my bosses - who are also my girlfriend in their own right.
What do you love to talk about?
You’d be surprised how long an F/M/K about each of the Beastie Boys could last.
What is art to you?
Everything except for what you decide it isn’t.
What lesson did you learn the hard way?
I learn my lessons the soft way, over long periods of time.
What advice would you give yourself 12 months ago?
Be careful about dust in your PC tower. A blown power supply messes up your life.
Your greatest achievement so far?
Before Glasslands got the sweet lighting system, I would use the old light panels when I would manage or go to shows. Lots of artists had nice things to say, and one time Zac Pennington from Parenthetical Girls shouted me out from stage. Everyone in the audience looked. It was uncomfortable and great.
I also just got a letter from someone in Australia who likes the newsletters that I write.
Who do you consider a mentor in your life?
Ria Katz.
What music do you listen to at home?
I’ll just obsess with a single album or song, like Led Zeppelin’s “Friends”. I recently came back to Frank Ocean, and that’s been great.
If you could provoke change in any area of the music business, what would it be?
There should be more of a trajectory to keep musicians playing for the long term. Money is a part of that (but not necessarily all of it). Also - I’d like to see a more critical focus on the art, and less on the use of social cache.
